When we were approached to create a story book themed children’s party, we were jumping out of our skin with awesome ideas to compliment the client’s brief.

We couldn’t wait to start creating and building all the props to have this world of make believe come to life. The day was to start with all the children having the time of their lives on the rides at Aussie World, and then move into The Shed for a dinner set to awaken their imagination.  This is where Mask Events got to show off what creative big kids we really are at heart. The themes we created for the evenings festivities were:

  • Australian
  • Alice in Wonderland
  • Winnie the Pooh
  • Peter Pan
  • Harry Potter

To tie all the of the themes together, as the guests wandered from one story to another, we created a directional sign in the fashion of each book to assist the flow of guests around The Shed.

The Australiana Collection

The back drop of the carvery section was to draw inspiration from classic Australian children’s novels such as Blinky Bill, The Magic Pudding and Wombat Stew.

The scent of gum leaves was in the air as the children lined up for their dinner, spying Blinky Bill’s ruck stacks stowed in the corner among traditional Australian windmills and silver camping lanterns, reminiscent of the original era these classics were penned in.

Harry Potter

Who wouldn’t want to eat dinner in the hallowed halls of Hogwarts? Harry Potter would be proud of the references we made to the four houses of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Each bearing the last name of its founder: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin.  The dining tables were adorned with items such as old spell books, potions and candelabras.  The crowning jewel being an authentic ‘Sorting Hat’ illuminated on plinth, taking pride of place at the head of the table.

Alice in Wonderland

I’m late, I’m late, for a very important date! Alice in Wonderland was the book of choice to be the desert station for the evening’s delight.  A double chocolate fountain set within our wonderland of teacup, bunnies, mushrooms and flamingos.  The turf backdrop provided a down the rabbit hole atmosphere and was a rich tone for us to play with our range vintage bunting.

Peter Pan in Neverland

Are you game to walk the plank over our shark invested water?  Try and find the ultimate treasure (chocolate coins of course) in our chest of jewels, or have your photo taken with our fierce pirate?  Not feeling so brave today, that’s okay, we have Peter Pan to feature in your selfie, as well as the lovely Tinkerbell waiting in her cage for you to post your wishes through for her to deliver.

Winnie The Pooh

Entertainment and contentment.  A time to rest and calm down after the evenings entertainment and find some zen time in the Hundred Acre Woods we created with our lush trees.  A place to get your creative on and spend some time colouring in all of Winnie the Pooh‘s friends.
