A french burlesque parisian inspired awards event at The Triffid in Brisbane.
Our client wanted wow factor for their 2018 Dudley Awards for Excellence, so we delivered! Guests were transported to the Parisian splendour of the Moulin Rouge amidst The Triffid’s iconic Live Room, a renovated WWII vintage aircraft hangar (amazing!).
Guests walked the red carpet as they arrived for pre-dinner drinks. Our Ringleader host greeted them at the entrance where a red curtain hinted at the spectacles to come.
But not just any red curtain! This one was lovingly made with our very own hands. The Mask Events team travelled from the Sunshine Coast to Brisbane several times before the event to setup the curtain. It was a lot of fun to get out the power tools and create this gorgeous entrance.
This of course was after we’d been sucked into the vortex of Bunnings and its very dangerous sausage and bread situation. To produce the Moulin Rouge atmosphere we also designed and built silhouette screens for the Moulin Rouge dancers. Much hammering, drilling, woodcutting and sausage sizzle eating later, TA DA! Silhouette screens to create a spectacular effect for the dancers.
The silhouette dancers with their beautiful Burlesque feathers weren’t the only entertainment. Burlesque stilt walkers, Can-Can dancers with their frisky, risqué skirts and even a French mime circulated the room, bringing amazement and laughs to the guests. The epic DJ hit the theme perfectly and had guests transforming into Moulin Rouge dancers in no time.
The room was set with dark majestic florals – arrangements of burgundy and deep red flowers with purple foliage and black feathers in striking black vases. Black candelabras brought a soft, warm glow to corners where guests could relax on the vintage rose couch settings and ottomans.
Something special for the main event – the awards ceremony. Big “Dudleys” light-up lettering stood before the stage (just in case anyone needed guidance to accept their award!). Confetti cannons exploded with gold confetti in an amazing celebration of everything this year’s winners have achieved.
